What to Expect on Sundays

Platform: Our Weekly Gathering

Sundays at 11:00 am

“Platform” is our weekly community gathering. It lasts about an hour and follows a simple, welcoming format with no pressure to participate in anything you’re uncomfortable with.

You’ll experience:

  • Opening reflections offered by members

  • Music performed by local musicians

  • A thoughtful talk exploring how to live well and act ethically in the world

There is no prayer, no scripture, and no religious ritual. Platform is about reflection, curiosity, and shared humanity.

Before, During, & After

Before Platform
Many people arrive early to connect, reflect, or participate in one of our pre-Platform offerings. Childcare begins at 9:45 AM.

Enjoy coffee and tea while catching up with friends or meeting someone new. Or, find a spot to enjoy quiet reading, reflection, or a few moments of calm before the programming begins.

Each Sunday, we offer a small-group gathering called Forum with discussions, guest presentations, or hands-on service opportunities. All are welcome to join from 9:45-10:45AM.

During Platform
Music & Reflection. Music is an important part of our gatherings and reflects the diversity of our community. You might hear classical guitar one week, pop music the next, or a children’s performance on another.

Platform Talks. Each week, a speaker explores big questions we all wrestle with: How should we live? How do we treat each other? What gives life meaning?

Speakers include Ethical Humanist clergy and guest experts from the community. The goal isn’t to tell you what to think, but to inspire reflection, conversation, and action.

After Platform: Coffee Hour
After Platform, many people gather downstairs for conversation over coffee and tea. It’s a relaxed, friendly time to meet others, talk with the speaker, or simply get a feel for the community.

Bringing Children?

We love kids. Really.

Children are always welcome at the Ethical Society.

From September through May, we offer ethical education and youth programs for all ages, along with complimentary childcare for infants and preschoolers.

Sunday schedule for kids:

  • 9:45 am – 12:15 pm

    • Infants & Preschool: Childcare

    • Elementary: SEEK (Sunday Ethical Education for Kids)

    • Middle School: Coming of Age

    • High School: Youth Group

    • Parents: Raising Ethical Humans

    • Adults: Forum (Adult Education)

During the summer, formal classes pause, but childcare and supervised activities continue.

If it works better for your family, children are also welcome to attend Platform with you.

When You Arrive

Whatever makes you comfortable.

Some people dress up a bit. Most dress casually. Jeans, sneakers, flip-flops, or an enormous floppy hat are all welcome. We promise, no one is judging.
