MONC Midwest Region Auditions

The Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions (MONC) is a program designed to discover promising young opera singers and assist in the development of their careers. It is the longest-running audition program in the country, beginning with the Auditions of the Air in the 1930s. It currently takes place annually in twelve regions throughout the US and Canada.
On Saturday, February 1, 1 p.m., the MONC Midwest Region will hold auditions at the Ethical Society of St. Louis. Regional auditions are only held in St. Louis once every four years. The afternoon is open to the public at no charge. The singers that day will be the recent winners from the districts that comprise the Midwest Region. Three judges, all opera professionals, will select the winning contestant to advance to the late-February National Semi-Finals in NYC on the late-February National Semi-Finals in NYC on the stage of The Metropolitan Opera.
