Ethicyclists Ride: Reopened Monarch Levee Trail
June 15 @ 9:15 am - 2:00 pm
For this ride, our group will meet at 9:15 a.m. in the very back of the parking lot at the Topgolf driving range in Chesterfield. The address is 16851 North Outer 40 Road, and you can get there by driving west on I-64/40 to the Boone’s Crossing exit, making two right turns to the outer road. You will see Topgolf ahead of you and on the left side of the road. The very tall nets around their driving range are hard to miss.
We plan to start our ride at 9:30 a.m. at the starting point of what is commonly known as the Monarch Levee bike trail, which is located just behind the Topgolf parking lot. We will head west on the trail over the Missouri River bridge and spiral down on the other side to connect with the Katy Trail. We will then travel west on the Katy Trail to the Weldon Spring trailhead, where we can take a bathroom break before we head back to the starting point at Topgolf. The total distance will be just about 22 miles, with very few hills.
Afterward, we can have lunch at the Red Robin restaurant in Chesterfield Valley. Joe Corrigan and I checked it out, and they serve a wide variety of good bar food, including the Impossible Burger and other vegetarian entrees. They also have a pretty good selection of draft beers and other adult beverages for any who are interested.
Don’t forget to bring your water bottle, sunscreen and sunglasses, your helmet, and a spare tube in case of a flat (it does happen).
