Social Activities Around the Society CHORUSThe Chorus of the Ethical Society meets weekly and performs approximately once a month at Sunday Platforms and at the Fall, Winter and Spring Festivals. It also participates in the annual Music Festival. New members are always welcome! You don't have to be a member of the Society to join the Chorus. Rehearsals are Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 p.m. If you are interested, drop by a rehearsal or contact the Music Director. We will be happy to have you sing with us! To join the group, contact the Society office at . COUPLES The Ethical Society Couples group meets for fun and to foster relationships among couples in the Society. A once a month potluck is a regular feature of the group, with special events and other activities planned by members. To join the group, contact the Society office at . ETHICURIANS Eat, drink, and be merry! The Ethical Society Ethicurians are gearing up again in 1999. The focus of the group is simply to rotate hosts among members of the group by treating each other to a delicious dinner served in your own home or at the Society. This is a great way to meet other Ethical Society members as well as new faces while enjoying a culinary experience that is uniquely "ethicurian." To join the group, contact the Society office at . FUN(D)RAISERS Please see this group's separate page. GREETERS The purpose of our Sunday morning Greeters is to provide a team of volunteers who greet attendees as they arrive for the Sunday morning Platform meeting. Greeters participate in a training session in October, and each Sunday morning there are four greeters and a coordinator who serve one Sunday each month on a rotating basis. To become a greeter, contact the Society office at . HOUSE BAND Founded by member Dave Schwartz in 1999, Chuck and the Monkeys is a madcap bunch of folks who like to play instruments, bang on stuff, and sing. They cover just about any type of song -- from the 40s to the present, including pieces by Arethra Franklin, Elvis, Journey, and Van Morrison. Chuck and the Monkeys performs at Society functions throughout the year. Anyone who can play an instrument (including air guitar and the VibraSlap IITM) or carry a tune (particularly in the shower or the car) is welcome to stop by a rehearsal or contact the Society office at . MEN'S FORUM The Men's Forum serves both the educational and social interests of its members. We have both internal and external speakers, videos and slide shows, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The next hour is spent socializing over a "bring your own" lunch. Programs and activities are participatory and often include lots of questions/comments from the attendees. Contact the Society office at . SINGLES This group is currently inactive. In the past they have had an active calendar of group events including dining, hiking, museum tours, and music. TUESDAY WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION Please see this group's separate page. WEEKLY NEWSLETTER The purpose of the Weekly is to provide internal and external communication for the Ethical Society. (External to those non-members who request a free temporary subscription or pay a yearly subscription, internal to our membership.) The Weekly editor 1) creates the newsletter each week from information or articles submitted by members and staff, and 2) makes editorial decisions on omitting/including/revising submissions. To assist the Weekly staff, contact the Society office at .
