Chris Krehmeyer, 2003 Ethical Society of St. Louis Humanist of the Year On May 11, we celebrated the 2003 James F. Hornback Ethical Humanist of the Year Award. Chris is in his tenth year as Executive Director of Beyond Housing. This outstanding non-profit organization provides over 200 quality 3-bedroom homes and support services to low income families- some of them homeless- in St. Louis County who are determined to improve their situation. Chris also works with various neighborhoods and their leaders to rebuild their communities. Beyond Housing has recently merged with Neighborhood Housing Services, a highly respected agency that helps families to purchase their first homes. Because of Chris’ vision and dedication to helping others help themselves, Beyond Housing/NHS will provide direct services to more than 2,000 families in 2003. The community building work throughout St. Louis City and County will impact more than 5,000 other families! Chris exemplifies the qualities and values we cherish. His bold leadership, the joy he takes in overcoming the many challenges he faces and the passion he feels when enabling families to help themselves in achieving their goals is thrilling to hear about. Our recognition of his accomplishments is a great opportunity to reach out to our community. |
