With over 60 children enrolled, the Sunday School of the Ethical Society of St. Louis is one of the largest Sunday School programs in the Ethical Culture movement. In the program, children from ages 2-18 learn to respect the inherent worth of every human being and to develop those values that will integrate them into the greater human family.
The Sunday School meets every Sunday from mid-September to the end of May from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
The Ethical Society's core values are an essential part of the Sunday School curricula. All lessons emphasize the 12 core values:
The program encourages children to explore and define their own values and beliefs by learning about humanity's past and present values, spiritual traditions, and experiences and imaginings. The curriculum revisits topics throughout a child's religious education, exploring themes age-appropriately and with an emphasis on inquisitive thought, the central role of ethics to all religion, and the interconnectedness of life.
