The Sunday School is a fellowship of adults and children working and learning together. We require that all parents participate in some way. The following are just a few examples of how you can participate in your child’s ethical education. Suggestions for new and different activities and projects are always welcomed. Contact the director with your suggestions.
Teaching in the Sunday School is an exciting avenue to pursuing a deeper understanding of Ethical Culture and contributing to the continued growth of the Society. The Sunday School relies on parent volunteers to lead core curriculum classes and Children’s Sunday Gathering, assist in the preschool, and help with special events. Check the bulletin board in the east hall downstairs for volunteer opportunities, or you can talk to the director about getting involved.
This committee of parents and Ethical Society members oversees all aspects of the Sunday School, from framing policy and establishing goals to planning finances, coordinating and evaluating curricula, and assisting directors and staff. The group meets monthly; contact the director for meeting times.
This group of parents meets informally from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Sunday mornings to discuss families and raising children.
The Ethical Society Sunday School is open to all children -- of members and non-members. We have some funds available to us from the Society; however, we do ask for a Commitment Pledge from each family in order to support our extra-curricular activities and field trips which make our program special and fun. We ask for $100 per child for members and $200 per child for non-members. Our children’s ethical and moral education is of utmost importance and we ask parents to make this monetary pledge to help ensure their participation in the program. Without our parents’ support, so many of our activities would not be possible. To make a financial contribution to the Sunday School program, contact the director.
