Supporting Groups

"There are no good explanations for many of the things we experience in our lives, but companions helps us make it through: people who listen, people who keep us company, people who are happy or sad with us."

Fritz Williams, "The Heart of Humanism," Platform Address, 1998 Cultivating community means assisting members with helpful resources and concern. Our active and caring support groups give members of the Ethical Society and the St. Louis community a place to share their experiences and concerns with others. Our support groups include:

The Committee of Concern
Whether members need someone to talk to, help with transportation, or assistance with referrals to specific kinds of professionals, the Committee of Concern exists to respond to the needs of Ethical Society members. To request help from the Committee of Concern, contact the Society office at 314-991-0955 or by email ( ).

Parent Talk
While their children are attending Sunday School, this group of parents gathers to discuss parenting topics and concerns. The group meets every Sunday that Sunday School is in session.

The format of the group is largely open discussion, with participants bringing their ideas for topics or questions. Occasionally, a guest speaker is invited to discuss an agreed-upon topic of interest. All parents, former parents, parents-to-be, and grandparents are welcome!

Parent Talk meets in the northeast room next to the classrooms in the Assembly Hall on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. For more information, contact the office at 991-0955, ext. 216, or by email ( ).
